PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document management apparatus that can easily distinguish image data. SOLUTION: A FAX server and a document server 4 or the like are interconnected via a communication network T. The document server 4 logs in to the FAX server by using user IDs. Furthermore, a RAM 13 of the document server 4 stores an attribute provision table consisting of items of user IDs denoting destinations and items of output attributes corresponding to the user IDs. Then the document server 4 gives an output attribute to image data from the FAX server on the basis of the attribute provision table. Thus, the document management apparatus can easily distinguish image data on the basis of the output attribute given to the image data.
