PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture display device which superimposes a picture on a video signal from a personal computer and a work station in real time and which is capable of correctly displaying the video signal of the personal computer and the workstation even when a superimposition control part is in failure. SOLUTION: The superimposing part is provided with a through-path for directly outputting the video signal and a selector for switching a superimposition path for outputting a picture to be superimposed such as an electronic microscope signal or the like.
