PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold cathode fluorescent lamp capable of improving discharge delay phenomenon at the start-up in the dark and suppressing the deterioration of luminance and the consumption of mercury. SOLUTION: This cold cathode fluorescent lamp is provided with a glass tube 4 provided with a fluorescent material layer 5 on an inner wall face and sealing a discharge medium and a pair of cold cathodes 6 sealed and provided in both end parts of the glass tube 4, respectively. The cold cathode 6 is provided with a metallic cylindrical body 6a, an introduction wire 6d whose tip part is inserted and fixed in one end side of the cylindrical body 6a, and a getter member 6c mounted and arranged on the inner wall face of the cylindrical body 6a with a clearance for forming negative glow when this lamp is lit.
