TRANSPARENT COMMUNICATION INTERCEPTION IN A CORE TRANSPORT NETWORK

The present invention is a system and method for enabling a Legal Intercept Monitoring Center to monitor communication. The method comprises the steps of receiving a communication and then converting the communication into a format readable by a Legal Intercept Monitoring Center (LIC). The system intercepts a communication and forwards a copy of the communication to a Legal Intercept Monitoring Center (LIC) in a LIC readable format using an intercept transcoder and a payload copying device.
