PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent two images themselves from being unnaturally distorted while making the positional deviation between the two images to be compared more suppressible than in the conventional practice in an image position adjusting device. SOLUTION: Shift quantity (moving quantity) is calculated stepwise by sequentially making smaller a search area to search a partial area where the degree of coincidence with a template area and the image of the template area is high with respect to two images P1 and P2 about the same object, and position adjustment processing is performed on the basis of the correspondence positional relation (shift quantity) between the finally obtained template area and the partial area so that both images can almost coincide with each other. |
