PURPOSE: A computer and a method for recovering booting of the computer are provided to recover immediately the booting without extra booting diskette though a boot record of a hard disk drive is deleted or is damaged by using a booting recovery program stored in a flash memory. CONSTITUTION: A computer includes a flash memory(40), a booting recovery program(45), a CPU(Central processing Unit)(10), a controller(20), a hard disk drive(90), a hard disk controller(80), a floppy disk drive(70), a floppy disk controller(60), and RAM(Random Access Memory)(30). The flash memory(40) is a nonvolatile memory and stores BIOS(Basic Input/Output System) data related to a basic operation of computer system. The booting recovery program(45) is stored in the flash memory(40). The CPU(10) reads out the BIOS data from the flash memory(40) and boots the computer system. A controller(20) is operated by the flash memory(40) and performs a read/write work on the flash memory(40). The hard disk drive(90) stores data and records a boot record for use in boot. The hard disk controller(80) outputs a control signal for driving the hard disk drive(90) by an instruction of CPU(10). The floppy disk drive(70) records data in a floppy disk or reads the data recorded therein. The floppy disk controller(60) outputs a control signal for driving the floppy disk drive(70) by an instruction of CPU(10). The RAM(30) stores the BIOS data read out from the flash memory by the controller(20) and the floppy disk controller(60).
