Use of 7-halo-1-(2-(piperazin-1-yl)-2-oxoethyl)-4-oxo-3-phenyl-3,5-dihydro-4H -pyridazino (4,5-b) indoles (I) for the treatment or prevention of diseases associated with dysfunction of the peripheral benzodiazepine receptors is new. Use of pyridazino-indole derivatives of formula (I) or their acid addition salts is claimed in the preparation of a medicament for the treatment or prevention of diseases associated with dysfunction of the peripheral benzodiazepine receptors. X = halo; Y = H or one or more of halo, OH, Me and OMe; R1 = H or 1-4C alkyl; and R2 = H, 1-4C alkyl, 3-7C cycloalkyl, (3-7C) cycloalkyl-(1-6C) alkyl, phenyl, pyridinyl or phenyl-(1-4C) alkyl.
