The water catch tank for a motor vehicle air inlet has a tub (9) mounted under the bonnet (2) of the vehicle body, to be selectively connected to the bonnet to follow its movement. The tub disengages from the top of the engine compartment (1) when the bonnet is open. The tub can be coupled with the cap by a closure to offer a degree of freedom allowing a free movement in the preferred direction of deformation under impact.
