PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an OFDM receiver that efficiently estimates a signal after waveform equalization so as to enhance the bit error rate characteristic in the case of waveform equalization to the signal through the estimation of a frequency characteristic of a transmission channel. SOLUTION: The OFDM receiver 1 has an equalizer 8 that applies waveform equalization to quadature amplitude modulation signal adopting the 16 QAM system after being subjected to an FFT arithmetic operation. The equalizer 8 estimates the frequency characteristic H(ω) of the transmission channel from an SP signal and divides the estimated frequency characteristic H(ω) by the quadrature amplitude modulation signal to apply amplitude equalization and phase equalization to the quadrature amplitude modulation signal. In this case, the equalizer 8 selects a power P of a maximum level of the quadrature amplitude modulation signal to be a maximum value of data outputted after the waveform equalization and boosts the power of each subcarrier and applies the amplitude equalization to the quadrature amplitude modulation signal by using the power P of the maximum level of a valid signal for a reference signal.
