PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device which is hardly affected by the rotating accuracy of a spindle motor and makes written servo signals hardly interferable with each other and a servo signal writing method for the magnetic disk device. SOLUTION: The servo signal S1 written just before among the servo signals already written to the magnetic disk 11 is determined as a reference signal and while this reference signal is followed up by a playback head 20, the servo signals S2 is written in the position apart by a track pitch P in the diametral direction of the magnetic disk 11 from the reference signal by a recording head 21 disposed in the position apart by the track pitch P in the diametral direction of the magnetic disk 11 from the playback head 20.
