PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disc body discrimination device to maintain discriminating precision of a disc body high and to attempt stable carriage of the disc body. SOLUTION: A disc body intrusion preventing means 11, for preventing intrusion of the disc body X into an opening part 6a, is arranged by covering a part of the opening part 6a on an opening part 6a of an image pickup means 5, on which illuminating light is irradiated on the disc body discrimination device 1, having the opening part 6a which is to be arranged facing against a disc body guide passage 2, furnished with the image pickup means 5 for picking up an image of a surface of the disc body X to be reflected by irradiation, as well as to directly irradiate the illuminating light on the disc body X in the disc body guide passage 2 through the opening part 6a and to discriminate the disc body X, based on image pickup result by the image pickup means 5.
