PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control system of a special picture effect device having a plurality of operating means and capable of reducing the connecting cost. SOLUTION: The control system of the special picture effect device comprises a special effect controller 271 for controlling the special effect device, a multifunction main operating unit 82, less function or single function sub- operating units 83a, 83b and 83c, a main communication channel 85 for connecting the unit 82 to the controller 81, and a LAN 84 for connecting the units 83a to 83c to the controller 81. The channel 85 has, for example, an SCSI interface, and is independent from the LAN 84. Since the channel 85 is independent of the LAN 84 from each other, if the capacity of transmitting via the channel 85 is increased and the capacity of transmitting via the LAN 84 is decreased, a connecting facility for minimum transmission may be sufficient.
