PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actualize diverse retrieval by a retrieval system for the Internet by using plural retrieval sites and to obtain all retrieval results by indicating retrieval once even for a retrieval site which sends back a page containing the specific number of URLs as a retrieval result at a retrieval request and also sends a following page of the retrieval result in response to the depression of a next-page button, etc. SOLUTION: Retrieval conditions relating search engines on the Internet are specified to the search engines with an arithmetic expression containing, for example, an operator for a sum set, an operator for a common set, and an operator for a difference. For the retrieval result of each search engine, the sum set, common set, or difference is calculated as specified by the arithmetic expression to obtain a final result. Or when there is the next page as the response of each search engine, a request to acquire the next page is automatically issued to obtain the specific number of or all retrieval results. Each retrieval engine is capable of neiborhood retrieval.
