摘要 A process for the separation of ammonia from its mixture with an amide obtained by liquid phase reaction of water with a nitrile, comprises separating the two-phase mixture into a mainly phase (P1) and a mainly water phase (P2). Ammonia is extracted with an aqueous medium to give an aqueous phase (P3) containing the extracted NH3 and a mixture (P4) from which the amide is obtained. A process for the separation of ammonia from its mixture with an amide (I) obtained by liquid phase reaction of water with a nitrile (or analogous starting material) (II) in the presence of an incompletely water-miscible organic liquid diluent (III), is claimed. The amide (I) is selected from lactams, oligomers and polymers having amide groups in the main chain, and the starting material (II) is selected from nitriles, amines, aminonitriles and aminoamides. The obtained two-phase mixture is separated into a phase (P1) having a higher content of (III) than water and a phase (P2) having a higher content of water than (III). NH3 present in phase (P1) is extracted with an aqueous medium (M1) to give an aqueous phase (P3) containing the extracted NH3 and a mixture (P4) with a reduced NH3 content, from which (III), any residual NH3, any high- or low-boiling by-products and any unreacted (II) are removed to obtain (I).
