<p>Disclosed is a process for the preparation of ketones by contacting one or more carboxylic acids with a niobium catalyst at elevated temperatures. The process includes the use of a modified base-exchanged niobium catalyst that is particularly useful for the production of cyclopropyl ketones such as cyclopropyl methyl ketone from cyclopropanecarboxylic acid and acetic acid.</p> |
