PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a troidal type continuously variable transmission capable of preventing lowering of durability of a roller and a raceway surface and unstable transmission of torque. SOLUTION: The respective discs of an input disc 5 and an output disc 6b have recessed curved raceway parts 5c, 6d formed of ceramics at one side. The roller 7 is disposed between the raceway parts 5c and 5d, and by rolling contact between the raceway surfaces 5f, 6g of the raceway parts 5c, 6d formed of ceramics and the roller 7, torque is transmitted from the input disc 5 to the output disc 6b.
