PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-stroke prime mover capable of scavenging an overflow pipe line completely by air containing no fuel, at a low structural cost. SOLUTION: A valve 23 is located in the second switching position when a piston 1 closes an overflow port 12 in an up-stroke, and the overflow pipe line 10 is connected to an air pipe line 21 and a storage chamber 20 to store the air containing no fuel inside the pipe line 10 as storage air 51. When the piston 1 comes to a down-stroke to open the overflow port 12, the valve 23 is changed to the first switching position, the overflow pipe line 10 is separated from the air pipe line 21 and the storage chamber 20 to be connected to a crank casing 3, and fresh air-fuel mixture compressed by down-motion of the piston 1 flows into the pipe line 10 along an arrow-mark direction 41 to push away the storage air 51 from the pipe line 10 into a combustion chamber 4.
