PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle capable of extremely shortening the dimension of the vehicle front and rear directions and widely securing a space within a cabin. SOLUTION: This air conditioner for the vehicle having an air mix door for adjusting the ratio of airflow quantity of air passing a heater core and bypassed air and a hot air passage for delivering hot air to the downstream by reversing the direction of hot air after passing the heater core within a duct is characterized by constituting the air mix door into a door of U-shaped cross section to cover the heater core from the inlet side, constituting the air mix door into a movable door capable of adjusting the ratio of airflow quantity of air made to flow into the U-shaped cross section and to flow into the heater core and air which is not allowed to flow into the U-shaped cross section and forming a hot air passage between a side wall in the U-shaped cross section of the air mix door and a duct inner wall.
