PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder capable of feeding only the desired paper when plural kinds of paper sheets are stacked on a single paper holding part. SOLUTION: This paper feeder has a paper information storing part for rewritably storing the information on the number of sheets for every information on paper kind, executes the paper feeding operation only in a case when a paper feeding signal of the paper corresponding to the information on paper kind specified in the paper information storing part is received (Y in S23), and decrements the information on number of sheets from the paper information storing part (S25). Whereby only the specified paper can be fed, even when plural kinds of sheets are stacked on the paper holding part, for example, by specifying the paper to be fed first by a paper feeding mechanism, in advance.
