摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select a pitch of appropriate value constantly in the detection of a three-dimensional image. SOLUTION: Pre-range finding is conducted according to a light propagation time measuring method (TOF method) and distance data to an object S is measured roughly (Step 101). Based on the distance data, a decision is made at which of near, intermediate or far distance the object S is located (Step 102). In case of a near distance, a scan pitch is set relatively roughly (Step 103) and a decimation rate, i.e., a resolution, is set relatively roughly (Step 104). In case of an intermediate distance, the scan pitch is set at a relatively intermediate value (Step 105) and the resolution is set at a relatively intermediate value (Step 106). In case of a far distance, the scan pitch is set most finely (Step 106) and the resolution is set most finely (Step 107). According to a scan pitch and a resolution thus set, surface of the object is scanned with a slit light and three-dimensional image data is detected according to a light section method (Steps 110, 111).
