摘要 <p>To chill the water supplies for use in the foodstuff industry, it is constantly recirculated without storage and without contact with the ambient air. The water temperature is reduced in at least two stages, from an initial temperature level (T0) to a value close to 1 degrees C. This gives a cold water supply which is not contaminated, at the point of use. To chill the water supplies for foodstuff production, the initial temperature level is lowered in two stages to an intermediate level (T1) of a few degrees C and then to the final temperature (T2) close to 1 degrees C. The recirculating water is passed through a heat exchanger to reduce its temperature to the intermediate level. It then flows through a second heat exchanger to lower the temperature still further to the value for use. The recirculating water is replenished as supplies are drawn off. An Independent claim is included for a water chilling assembly with an inlet (12) connected to the water supply and an outlet (13) to the user machine. The continuous water flow is chilled in two stages (2, 3). Preferred Features: The two water cooling stages are heat exchangers, to bring the initial temperature to an intermediate level, and then reduce the temperature further to the required level for use. The connection to the water supply is sealed, to prevent contact with the ambient air. A water purification stage is between the entry into the heat exchangers and the water supply system. The leading heat exchanger has a higher capacity than the second heat exchanger.</p>
