PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seedling transplanter capable of carrying out seedling transplanting at a high speed and scarcely causing disturbance in a planting posture. SOLUTION: This seedling transplanter for an upland field is obtained by installing a seedling planting means PT composed so as to apply each seedling N to a rodlike seedling planting unit p, move and transplant the seedling N into soil of a transplanting field PG of the upland field and providing a soil loosening unit 33 for slipping into the front soil relatively to a locus of the seedling planting unit p during the movement of the seedling N and loosening the soil and composed so as to thrust the seedling planting unit p into the soil g loosened with the soil loosening unit 33 and plant the seedling N. Furthermore, the seedling planter is equipped with a seedling guide unit 26 for bringing the seedling planting unit p into contact with the seedling N, applying resistance to the movement of the seedling N and guiding the movement of the seedling N during the movement of the seedling N into the soil with the seedling planting unit p. In addition, the soil loosening unit 33 is arranged in the forward direction of the machine body so that the position can be regulated.
