PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance production efficiency and to increase production quantity by increasing a treatment speed without damaging the impregnation properties of resin paste or the surface smoothness of a molded article using a produced fiber reinforced resin sheet 4 as a raw material even in such a case that a sheet unit weight is heavy. SOLUTION: In an apparatus and method for manufacturing the fiber reinforced resin sheet 4 wherein reinforcing fibers 9 impregnated with the resin paste 5 are held between a pair of resin films 1, 13, a coating means 7 for coating one resin film 1 with the resin paste 5, a scattering means 11 for scattering the reinforcing fibers 9 over the resin film, coated with the resin paste 5 by the coating means 7, in a layered form, a compression means 31 for compressing the layer of the reinforcing fibers 9 scattered by the scattering means 11 and a lamination means 15 for laminating the other resin film 13 on the compressed reinforcing fibers 9 are provided.
