GENISTEIN AS AGENT FOR TREATING PROLIFERATIVE VITREORETINOPATHY

PURPOSE: The use of genistein as an agent for the treatment of proliferative vitreoretinopathy(PVR) is provided. And the effective concentration thereof is 10 to 100 micromole. Therefore, the genistein will become innovative and promising drugs for treatment of PVR. CONSTITUTION: Genistein induces the growth inhibition of fetal neural retina cells or retinal pigment epithelial cells in dependence on concentration and also induces apoptosis in a high concentration. The genistein isolates the advance of a cell cycle at G0/G1 in the growth-inhibition concentration of 10 micromole while it induces the isolation of G2/M in 50 micromole as an inducing concentration of apoptosis.
