PURPOSE: To provide an oscillating mechanism of a spinning reel capable of realizing a close coiling on a compact reel body. CONSTITUTION: This oscillating mechanism 6 of a spinning reel is a mechanism reciprocating back and forth a spool axis 15 installed with a spool 4 on its end by interlocking with the rotation of an assembled handle body 1, and has a driving gear 20, a spiral axis 21, a driven gear 23 a slider 22. The driving gear 20 is a gear immovably fixed on a master gear axis. The spiral axis 21 is installed parallel to the spool axis and has a crossing spiral ditch 21a on the surface. The driven gear is immovably installed on the spiral axis 15 and is a gear to which the rotation of the driving gear 20 is transmitted. The slider 22 is installed on the reel body as freely movable back and forth, has an engaging member to engage with the spiral ditch and installed with the spool axis 15 immovably set in back and forth directions.
