The lock has solenoid operated tumblers (14). The solenoid (13) is supplied from a battery and controlled by a radio signal received by an antenna (4) located behind the wall of the faceplate (5) covering the access hole for the lock. If the battery voltage falls below a set level the control system sets the lock in either a latched or an unlatched position according to choice.
