PURPOSE: A press driving device is provided to automatically drop a ram by establishing work frequency, to exactly control a position of the ram and to drive a press by a microcomputer. CONSTITUTION: A device for driving a press comprises a microcomputer(100) establishing frequency of a press; an input unit(110) outputting an operational command into the microcomputer; a work established frequency display unit(120) indicating the frequency of established work by controlling the input unit; a work operating frequency display unit(130) indicating frequency of the operating work according to a control of the microcomputer; an entire work operating frequency display unit(140); an error message display unit(150) displaying an error massage by the control of the microcomputer; an encoder(160) detecting a rotational angle of a rotational shaft driving a ram; a clutch control unit(170) transmitting or isolating driving force of a main motor by the control of the microcomputer; and a motor current control unit(180) controlling the current flowing the main motor by the microcomputer.
