Verfahren zur Herstellung von Cumolhydroperoxyd durch katalytische Oxydation von Cumol

Cumene hydroperoxide is prepared by oxidizing cumene with molecular oxygen or a gas containing molecular oxygen in the presence of benzoic acid. Suitably the reaction is carried out by oxidizing with air in the presence of about 0.5 gm. of benzoic acid per kilogram of cumene, the reaction being initiated by the addition of a small proportion of cumene hydroperoxide. The benzoic acid may conveniently be added in portions during the course of the reaction. Examples describe the oxidation of cumene to cumene hydroperoxide at 110 DEG C. in the presence of benzoic acid by means of air and oxygen.
