PURPOSE: A variable damper for a washing machine is provided to generate proper damping forces depending on the vibration condition of a washing tub. CONSTITUTION: A water tub(200) of a washing machine is supported on a damper(600). The damper includes a lift member(20) penetrated with a suspension bar(500), a support member(40) fixed on the lower end of the suspension bar, and a damping spring(30) installed between the support member and the lift member. The lift member includes a support ledge(22) extended outwardly, a through hole(50) fitted with the suspension bar, and an incision portion(60) outwardly extended from the through hole. By the incision portion, friction force between the through hole and the suspension bar is varied depending on the degree of load. Therefore, damping force is variably applied. |
