PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing functional particles which can reduce a production cost and also enables multi-functionalization. SOLUTION: Aggregated fine particles which are solid at normal temperatures/normal pressures are suspended in a functionalizing agent to prepare a suspension (step 1). By boiling the suspension, the aggregated fine particles are disintegrated and, at the same time, the molecule of the functionalizing agent is cleaved to functionalize the surface of the fine particles based on the functionalizing agent with the use of its cleaved portion (step 4).
