PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct the cutting data so as to indicate an area coincident with a print area not only when the print area of a recording paper is rectangular, but also when four corners of the print area are not always maintained at right angles. SOLUTION: This correcting method comprises a first step of detecting four apexes on the recording paper corresponding to the print area formed on the recording paper according to the print data, and a second step of moving the coordinates in the area indicated by the cutting data indicating the same area as the area indicated by the print data to a rhombus-like area formed by reference points and two correction points with the predetermined apexes out of the four apexes detected in the first step as the reference points and with the two apexes adjacent to the reference points as the correction points, and moving the coordinates to a rectangular area connecting the four apexes detected in the first step after moved in the rhombus-like area.
