PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair dye composition which has an extremely high hair- dyeing force, is scarcely faded with the passage of time, and hardly changes the color of the agent, even when stored. SOLUTION: This hair dye composition containing a direct dye (1) [the ring A is a benzene ring which may have a substituent or the like; B is an aryl or a heterocyclic group; D is N or CR4 (R4 is H or an alkyl); E is NR5, CR6R7, CR6=CR7 (R5 is an alkyl or the like; R6 and R7 are each H or an alkyl), O or S; R1 is an alkyl or the like; (n) is the number of 0 or 1; when (n) is 0, R2 and R5 form a heterocyclic group together with N-C-C, or R2 and B are bound to each other to form a heterocyclic group; when (n) is 1, R2 and R3 form a heterocyclic ring together with C=D-N; X- is an anion].
