PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact recording head capable of discharging a plurality of kinds of ink of different ink physical properties. SOLUTION: There are provided a first nozzle group (a black nozzle arrays Nk1 and Nk2 for large ink drops), a second nozzle group (a black nozzle array Nk3 for small ink drops) which are capable of discharging the black ink of a moderately penetrating ink, and a third nozzle group (a yellow nozzle array Ny, a magenta nozzle array Nm and a cyan nozzle array Ncy) which is capable of discharging color inks of highly penetrating inks. In executing color recording, the black nozzle array Nk3, the yellow nozzle array Ny, the magenta nozzle array Nm and the cyan nozzle array Ncy are used. The black nozzle arrays Nk1-Nk3 are used for monochromic recording.
