PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aluminate phosphor for a light accumulation material having high afterglow luminance. SOLUTION: The method for the production of an aluminate phosphor for light-accumulation material usesα-alumina power having an average primary particle diameter of >=0.05μm and <0.3μm as a raw material. Particularly, the aluminate phosphor for light accumulation material is composed of a double oxide expressed by compositional formula: xMO.Al2O3 (M is Sr and/or Ca; and 0.5<=x<=1.1), contains Eu as an activation agent and further contains Dy and/or Nd as a coactivation agent. More particularly, the aluminate phosphor in the above methods contains >=80 wt.% particles having a primary particle diameter of >=0.05μm and <=0.3μm.
