PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the forming efficiency in forming a filter material. SOLUTION: The method of the invention, for producing a filter material by using fiber layers and a functional member sandwiched between the fiber layers, comprises the step of preparing a first fiber layer 21 which has been formed into the same shape as that of one side of the filter material, the step of arranging a functional member 23 on the surface of the first fiber layer 21, and the step of forming a second fiber layer 22 by spinning fibers in a semi-molten state onto the functional member 23 arranged on the surface of the first fiber layer 21. Thus, such a step as of press forming a functional member sandwiched between nonwoven fabrics is made unnecessary and so are the measures to prevent a functional member from falling away and from breaking a nonwoven fabric.
