PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a thermal transfer recording medium suitable for the medium having a layer constitution for bringing about a problem particularly in high temperature drying by improving productivity capable of rapid drying even at a low temperature. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the thermal transfer recording medium comprises the step of forming a heat fusible ink transfer layer containing a coloring pigment on one surface of a base material sheet, an ink transfer layer coating liquid is coated and dried on the same area at least twice.
