PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such a rib for a hood-shaped mosquito net, and the like that a net cloth cannot be caught on a main rib, thus not to be damaged. SOLUTION: In this rib 1, the main rib 2 is connected to the upper part and the lower part foldably, and one end part of a receiving rib 3 is installed to an upper main rib 2A rotationally. In a joint part 5 between the upper main rib 2A and a lower main rib 2B, the upper main rib 2A and the lower main rib 2B are journalled rotationally 4 in the outward and inward directions at their end parts, respectively. A movable cylinder 7 is inserted through the joint part 5 freely slidably in the vertical direction of the main rib 2. In extension of the main rib 2 to the lower main rib 2B, the movable cylinder 7 is lowered by its self-weight, and by means of a stopper part 8 arranged for engaging one end of the movable cylinder 7, the movable cylinder 7 is stopped in the position where the joint part 5 is covered by the movable cylinder 7. When the main rib 2 is turned upside down and folded down to the upper main rib 2A, the movable cylinder 7 is lowered by its self-weight, and by means of a stopper part 9 arranged for engaging the other end of the movable cylinder 7, the movable cylinder 7 is stopped in the position where the joint part 5 is exposed from the movable cylinder 7.
