PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing device with the printing head life prolonged by reducing the difference in the frequency of use of printing elements in draft printing. SOLUTION: The number of ejection nozzles of printing heads 3 (3a, 3b, 3c) is set to be n (in the embodiment of the figure, n=4). In the case n is an even number, a paper 7 is conveyed by 'n-1' dots so as to be printed by even-numbered dots 14-2 and 14-4 of a printing head 3b such that the even- numbered dot 14-2 at the top of the even-numbered dots coincides with the top line 15-1 of the next even-numbered scan after printing on the paper 7 by odd-numbered dots 14-1 and 14-3 of a printing head 3a in an odd-numbered scan 13 to the paper 7. Furthermore, in the next odd-numbered scan, the paper 7 is conveyed by 'n+1' dots so as to be printed by odd-numbered dots 14-1 and 14-3 of a printing head 3c such that the odd-numbered dot 14-1 at the top of the odd-numbered dots coincides with a top line 16. These operations are repeated.
