PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for canceling echo for multiplex channel having a short converging time and less arithmetic quantity. SOLUTION: The multiple echo canceller has a control circuit 70, that receives information with respect to an input signal strength and information with respect to a degree of convergence from adaptive filters 80, 81, 82 and distributes to each adaptive filter the information about the number of coefficient updating times which correspond to them.
