PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device sufficiently supplying boosting energy for arc discharge to a discharge lamp and capable of shifting to the arc discharge smoothly after dielectric breakdown of the discharge lamp caused by high-voltage pulses. SOLUTION: This device is composed of AC power supply Vs, a DC power supply circuit 1 for rectifying the AC output of the AC power supply Vs and outputting DC of the predetermined voltage, a DC power supply control circuit 2 for controlling the DC power supply circuit 1 so that output voltage of the DC power supply circuit 1 shall be the predetermined voltage, a load circuit 5 at least composed of the discharge lamp, an inductor and a capacitor, a polarity reversing circuit 3 for supplying low frequency square wave power source periodically inverting polarity of the DC output of the DC power supply circuit 1 to the load circuit 5, and a polarity reversing control circuit 4 for controlling the polarity reversing circuit 3 so as to supply the predetermined power source to the load circuit 5. |
