PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor and information processing method which are capable of accessing a disk-shaped recording medium by simple processing even when video data, audio data, etc., are processed by applying the device and method to a removable hard disk device for recording, for example, video data and audio data and is capable of executing power management with good efficiency. SOLUTION: The recording units at an access destination are detected and processed by retrieving a system entry area on a recording and reproducing device side.
