PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare the list of proposal database information sorted by similarity with inquiring contents. SOLUTION: A multistage database searching method to an inquiry prepares the database of character strings to prepare inquiring character strings, processes each database character string by using the first method selected based on the efficiency of a calculating time, confirms a database character string similar to the inquiring character string, processes the similar database character string by using the second method selected so as to be more precise though time efficiency is degraded compared with the first method, confirms a smaller number of database character strings similar to the inquiring character string and finally confirms the most similar database character string based on the processing result of the similar database character string.
