An Asynchronous Transfer Mode switch for switching cells, having destination information therewith, between input ports and output ports, comprises (a) a shared multibuffer (SBM) having addresses for storing cells; and (b) a controller (16) having a common address queue for queueing the addresses of cells stored in the shared multibuffer and the destination information.
