PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a colored film which is thin in film thickness, but nevertheless has a large optical density, that is, a low visible-light transmittance on the surface of a plate glass by flexography. SOLUTION: A coating liquid for forming a colored film consists of a Si- alkoxide, a metal salt, an organic solvent and water. It contains at least two kinds or more out of the metal salts of Fe, Cu, Mn, Ni, Co, Cr, Zn and Al, and/or the hydrates of the metal salts. The ratio of water and Si in the composition is <=7.5 by molar ratio of water/Si. After the application of the coating liquid on the surface of a plate glass by flexography, the coated plate glass is subjected to heat curing at a temperature of >=200 deg.C, preferably >=400 deg.C, and this enables the formation of a colored film which is thin in film thickness, but nevertheless has a larger optical density on the surface of the plate glass.
