PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing a coat by using a safe and strong coat remover, and to provide equipment therefor. SOLUTION: This method for removing the coat has a process where dimethyl sulfoxide 3 is loaded into a container 2 and heated at about 35-189 deg.C, and another process where a coated material with the coat to be removed is immersed in the heated dimethyl sulfoxide solution, or the other process where the heated dimethyl sulfoxide solution is applied to or spayed on the coated material with the coat to be removed. The dimethyl sulfoxide is preferably mixed with another remover, an abrasive, a softener, and a thickener. Physical heating measures, such as ultrasonic irradiation, are preferably used as the heating procedure.
