An apparatus and method for electrical therapy of a heart in Pulseless Electrical Activity with at least one electrode placeable directly over the heart surface via a thoracostomy carried out by blunt dissection of the chest wall. A second electrode can be placed directly on the heart surface or on the skin of a patient. The device delivers pulse packets of electrical energy of various voltages for electrical therapy of a heart in pulseless electrical activity.
