The polymer insulator can be used in the treatment of plastics and in electric insulators. It is of supporting and tension type, has protection coating, reliable protection from atmospheric effects, simplified air-tightness and small overall dimensions having a longer leak path. The metal reinforcements, built in the supporting insulation body, have a closing part and grooves, connected by cylindrical clusters of radial and axial glass fibres. The protection coating, connecting the closing parts of the built-in reinforcement, is made, for example, of silicone rubber. Supporting steel rings improve the mechanical bending strength of the insulator. 2 claims, 2 figures
