The frame, comprising lens surrounds connected by a nose bridge and fitted with lugs for the side-piece hinges, has each hinge made in the form of a pivot bar (18) on the end of the side piece, fitted into a lug recess (32) via a lateral slot (34). The pivot bar is held in place in the recess by a spring (20) coiled round the end of the side-piece and enclosed in a sliding sleeve of greater diameter than the slot's width.
