Secure biometric authentication/identification method, encrypting biometric data and communicating to verification module

A biometric input unit (S) obtains biometric data of a user. A diversification value is introduced to the input data. Thus concatenated data is encrypted and transmitted to a verification module (V) via a communication network R. The data received by the verification module is decrypted using a secrete key (201) which permits verification that a diversification value was taken into account in the encryption process. A different diversification value is being used for each cryptographic operation carried out. Independent claims are also included for a biometric data input module and verification module.
