The invention relates to an agent for dyeing fibres containing keratin, especially human hair. The agent contains at least one quinoxaline derivative of formula (Ia) or (Ib) or (Ic), wherein R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and R<4>, independently of each other, mean a hydrogen atom or a C1-C4-alkyl group, R<5> means a hydrogen atom, a C1-C6 alkyl or aralkyl, aryl, C1-C4 alkenyl, hydroxyalkyl or carboxyalkyl group and R<6>, R<7> and R<8>, independently of each other, mean a hydrogen or halogen atom, a C1-C4-alkyl, C1-C4-alkoxy or nitro, amino, alkylamino, hydroxy, carboxy, sulfo, thiol, or C1-C4-alkylthio group. Two radicals can also form a ring together, respectively, -X= or =X- representing -CH=, =CH-.
